Face illumination is where LED modules emit light through the face (lens) of the lettering.
The lens is typically manufactured from a translucent acrylic material allowing light to pass through and illuminate the face.
When coloured illumination is required, there are a comprehensive range of self-coloured translucent acrylics available.
Alternatively, translucent film can be applied to the face of an acrylic lens, where a greater spectrum of colours are available.
For larger lettering and logos, it is recommended that the lenses are held in place behind a rim (known as rim and return construction).
For smaller lettering, the lenses can be bonded directly to the returns (known as rimless construction).
