In March 2021, Beta Signs were asked to supply a full signage package for the new Health & Wellbeing Centre in Bournville, working alongside architects Stride Treglown, the Bournville Village Trust and contractor A M Griffiths.
Stride Treglown created an initial brief to incorporate a dementia-friendly design across the internal wayfinding package.
Beta Signs added to this by providing a wayfinding consultancy, and offering our expertise on dementia-friendly materials, colours and pictograms.
It is important to note that when considering dementia-friendly aspects within signage, suitable colours and pictograms are required – It’s also imperative that the signage has a low reflectance to assist with any sensory and cognitive issues.
Internally, our team came up with wayfinding designs that complimented the buildings colour palette.
Each dementia-friendly colour is associated with an area of the building – ensuring it is an easy-to-follow system.
Our internal signage package also included tactile signs, projecting signs and a directory board.
Externally we supplied two sets of built-up letters to the entrances of the building and DDA manifestations, including profile cut white vinyl logos, to the glazing.
To complete the signage package, we also supplied emergency fire signage throughout the building.
