• Project information:

In March 2021, Beta Signs were asked to supply a full signage package for the new Health & Wellbeing Centre in Bournville, working alongside architects Stride Treglown, the Bournville Village Trust and contractor A M Griffiths.

  • Our brief:

Stride Treglown created an initial brief to incorporate a dementia-friendly design across the internal wayfinding package.

  • Beta Signs added to this by providing a wayfinding consultancy, and offering our expertise on dementia-friendly materials, colours and pictograms.

  • It is important to note that when considering dementia-friendly aspects within signage, suitable colours and pictograms are required – It’s also imperative that the signage has a low reflectance to assist with any sensory and cognitive issues.

  • Internally, our team came up with wayfinding designs that complimented the buildings colour palette.

  • Each dementia-friendly colour is associated with an area of the building – ensuring it is an easy-to-follow system.

  • Our internal signage package also included tactile signs, projecting signs and a directory board.

  • Externally we supplied two sets of built-up letters to the entrances of the building and DDA manifestations, including profile cut white vinyl logos, to the glazing.

  • To complete the signage package, we also supplied emergency fire signage throughout the building.

  • Location:

    Birmingham

  • Date completed:
